ENOUGH!!!? huH?

"dOn'T i GEt eNOUgh frOM fOod?"

A lot of people (including myself) who have practical experience with nutrition think that the government nutrition standards are too low, for many outcomes.

In my experience (being considered generally healthy, even when I was sick), I needed higher levels of vitamin C to stop the bruising and nosebleeds. I needed higher levels of beta carotene to make the insane dry-eye itching associated as hay fever to subside. I needed supplemental probiotics to get my digestive system to calm down. I seemed to need higher levels of the B- Complex to not feel fatigued all the time.

Upon entering kindergarten, I needed extra iron since my diet was so limited and and the digestive problems, from consuming such high amounts of high fructose corn syrup interrupted my digestion so much that I can only speculate this compounded the disruption in vitamin absorption. I seemed to be lacking some enzymes that assist with digestion and absorption, as when I began supplementing I began gaining lean mass at an astonishing rate compared to a high calorie routine (6,000).

Dieticians routinely say that, "As long as we are "fairly" healthy and "generally eat a balanced diet" we shouldn't need to take supplements...yet many dieticians take supplements themselves...so knowing how to eat isn't the answer.

In my research over the last 30 years, I have found that not one single group of people gets even the minimum amount of nutrition everyday, neither children, adolescents, adults nor seniors are getting the minimum amount of nutrition to even prevent the outward signs of malnutrition.

Generally, impoverished people tend to lack quantity of nourishing food, yet people for whom socio-economic status is improved, tend to eat foods rich in meat and fat, but still lack nutrition density...(quantity does not equate to quality of nutrition density). Just this month (June 2014), one study showed only 20% of school age children get their minimum amounts of nutrition on a daily basis.

To compound the issue, many things either increase the need of nutrient density of the body and/or decrease the absorption of nutrients...IF they are there to begin with!!!!

Personally, I don't know anyone who eats perfectly all the time, so to me, supplementing makes good sense and assures you'll at least get the minimums met.

Below is a partial list of some of the things that increase the need for nutrition of the body, above the minimum govt. standards. When you have two or more of them combined, there's not likely a chance you're even coming close to getting what you need without some supplementation.

1) Stress
2) S.A.D.C.R.A.P.
3) Partially hydrogenated oils actually block the absorption of certain nutrients
4) Digestive problems
5) Gastric surgery modification
6) Endurance activities
7) Strength training
8) Yoga, Pilates, core training
9) Underweight
10) High body composition
11) Prescription drugs
12) Recreational drugs
13) Caffeine
14) Tobacco
15) Illness
16) Chronic / acute dis-ease
17) Pregnancy
18) Lactation
19) Polution
20) Radiation
21) Inadequate / inconsistent whole foods
22) Skipping meals
23) Calorie / nutrient restrictive diets
24) Lack of sleep
25) Certain genetic anomalies
26) Bleeding
27) Men and women have some different nutritional requirements
28) Lack of sunlight

As you can see, if you combine a couple of them, the more complicated the deficiencies become. Yet, to many the de-generative dis-ease process is a medical mystery...without adequate nutrition density the catabolic, breaking down process is inevitable. How it shoes up in you depends on your particular genetic potential.

Personally, I focus on eating whole foods, functional-foods and some supplementation to make up for gaps.

Below is a link to the supplements I like and have used for 21 years. They are cleaner than certified organic and GMO free.

Do it now, do it consistently!

I see you succeeding!
