Special Report #54
Part of the
“I see you to succeeding"
series.
Improvement Comes From Within.
But the Actions Which Produce Results Come From Without.
But the Actions Which Produce Results Come From Without.
As discussed in the 'self image' post, the greatest controlling factor of success is how you see yourself in the back of your mind, outside your conscious awareness.
Miracles do happen, I see them all the time, which implies not having to 'do' anything to get a desired result (intention). But more commonly we have to do the thing / be engaged in the process to realize our goals...its more fun that way and it builds character, tempers the spirit and prepares you for the challenges life has yet to bring...and it makes the process of reaching your goals a gradual process...you see, if the change occurred all at once, most people wouldn't believe it and it would be such a shock that it would either have detrimental affects on the psyche and emotions or in a short time the person would sabotage the new, instant them (conflict with old self image).
In one of the earlier posts I talked about the 'doing' versus 'saying' or 'dabbling'.
The doing of the workouts & nutritional density habits allows your mind to gradually adjust to the new, updated version of yourself...in other words, by engaging the body in the act of progressive exercise, the mind can gradually let go the old image with your newer, self created image.
With the concept of outside-in, exercise is that part that happens to you from the outside-in, which merges with the change you make from the inside-out (new self image). When the two meet you have congruity of goals and personal agenda.
One of the misconceptions with regard to people who have started a program or unsuccessfully followed through is that they believe weight loss is something that happens 'to them' versus something they have to 'do to themselves'...essentially use the same amount of energy they used to get fat and unhealthy in the first place...its just that since they were taking action within their 'fat' self image, the process was happening outside their conscious awareness and it seemed relatively effortless...it matched their self image.
Bouncing back and forth in the mind uses immense emotional energy leaving very little if anything for the new goal...also known as decision fatigue.
"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back-- Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now."
Not clearly defining and creating your own self image is the modern day equivalent of hesitancy, since the mind goes back and forth never delegating the majority of physical, mental, emotional & spiritual energy toward one prevalent goal.
The "struggle", difficulty, and effort that chronic yo-yo dieter types perceive is actually the distance (cognitive dissonance), between their old self image and their new self image which for all intent and purpose is what creates / permits the energy, mental clarity and emotional fortitude to simply do the exercise and nutrition habits of lean, healthy people....everything in between 'intending to do the thing' and actually doing it is the emotional aspect of letting go the old self image (for whatever reason) and the new self image. This process can be emotionally draining.
Exercise is the thing that comes from outside which allows the work on the inside to manifest on the outside as physical health & fitness.
