Are You Dabbling or Doing?

The science of fat loss is already in place.

Those of us seasoned trainers who have stuck with the industry long enough to find out the most of the information out there in "weight loss land" is bunk, have learned to discern and pass on the critical information to our clients which really, really works.

What doesn't work we don't pass on, since our clientele demand results and significant results within the first 90 days. Generally speaking, people who don't get great results within the first 90 days usually don't stick with their program for the subsequent nine months.

Seasoned trainers know that more is not always better. For the average person, the benefits of resistance training (weight training) for example tops out at about 50 minute sessions, three times a week. Any more, and the exercise becomes stressful, stimulating the stress hormones (cortisol & adrenaline), which has a sort of reversed affect on the body.

Secondly, we know that cardiovascular training helps burn fat (when its set up to target the fat), but anything more than 20 minute sessions as little as 3 times a week can be a waste of time and dip into the stress zone again.

Third, how to set up your nutritional routine has already been outlined as well. there's really no secrets left, unless one ignores what is proven to lower body composition and improve the blood chemistry lab profile.

So! With this trinity in place, you are assured of success...as long as you do it.

Dabbling refers to doing a little bit resistance training, a little bit of cardio, but skipping some of the steps and then coming up with seeming sensible excuses as to why the nutrition laws don't apply to you.

There's two fundamental ways a trainer knows when people are doing or dabbling.

1) ("You can't believe what happened!"When people simply do what they have been shown to do, they call me saying, "You can't believe what happened!"

That's how incredible these three elements work together and whether someone has been working out for years or just beginning for the first time in their life, the speed at which they begin noticing and feeling improvements in their body as well as gaining compliments from those around them skyrocket.

2)) (Referrals):When a client is doing what they have been shown to do, the trainer gets referrals since the client is getting such noticeable improvements in their physique that their circle of influence are stammering to find out how they got such good results!

The client who isn't doing what they have been shown to do or is making changes to what they have been shown, taking away the essential parts of the system will essentially be spinning their wheels doing "busy" work, but missing out on the physique changing elements. These types of behaviors make it so they are "telling" their friends & family what they are busy with, but aren't getting any real noticeable results with, so their friends think their trainer doesn't know what he or she is talking about (dabbling).

Often, these clients will tell themselves they are doing what their trainer showed them, adamantly assure their trainer that they are doing everything exactly as they were shown, but the results show otherwise. Once the trainer says, "Ok, show me" it becomes evident very quickly that they are way off track but have convinced themselves they are doing versus dabbling.

So which is it?
